Coming from v1 (PC2)
ElastOS v2 is a new system. You do not migrate a v1 node to v2. You install v2 and start fresh. Your v1 node keeps working on its own, and its docs stay under ElastOS v1 (PC2).
What is different in v2
| v1 (PC2) | v2 | |
|---|---|---|
| Sign-in | Connect a crypto wallet | A passkey (Touch ID, a phone or a security key) |
| Account recovery | Your wallet | A Recovery Kit file that you save |
| Install | v1 start scripts | One signed install command, checked against the maintainer’s DID |
| Address | http://localhost:4200 | http://localhost:8090/home/ |
| Updates | Pulled from a Git repository | Signed releases, checked by hash and signature, approved with your passkey |
| Apps | Web apps on the node | Signed apps. The Runtime checks each app’s access before it acts |
| Other Homes | Boson network | Carrier: direct, encrypted links between Homes, and a shared Community |
Start on v2
- Check that your computer is supported.
- Install ElastOS.
- Create your account with a passkey and save your Recovery Kit.
v1 and v2 use different ports (4200 and 8090), so they can run on the same computer. They do not share accounts or files.
