Accounts and passkeys
Sign in
Open http://localhost:8090/home/ and select Use passkey. Confirm with Touch ID, your phone or your security key. If sign-in fails, the lock screen says why.
Add a second passkey
Do this soon, so you are not locked out if you lose one device.
- Open System > Accounts.
- Select Add passkey (admins only).
- Confirm with your current passkey.
- Create the new passkey on another device or a FIDO2 security key.
Admins and guests
- The first account on a Home is the admin. Admins manage passkeys, models, updates and security.
- To let other people create their own guest account on your Home, turn on System > Security > Guest access. They then choose Create guest account on the sign-in screen.
- In System > Accounts, an admin can Make admin, Make guest or Remove an account’s passkeys.
- Guests cannot see the security log or use the Terminal.
- Each account has its own private area. Other accounts cannot open your files.
A passkey belongs to the address where you made it. Always use http://localhost:8090/home/, not 127.0.0.1 or your computer’s network address.
Lost a passkey?
- If you still have another passkey, sign in with it and Remove the lost one in System > Accounts.
- If you lost every passkey, use your Recovery Kit. See Data and backup.
