First steps
After you install ElastOS, Home opens at http://localhost:8090/home/.
Create your account
Enter your name
The first screen is Set up Home. Type your name in Your name.
Create your passkey
Select Create admin passkey. Your browser asks you to confirm with Touch ID, your phone or a security key.
The first account on a Home is its admin.
Home opens
You see your desktop and the Dock with your Apps. Next time, sign in with Use passkey.
Always use http://localhost:8090/home/. A passkey belongs to the address where you made it, so it does not work at 127.0.0.1 or at your computer’s network address.
Save your Recovery Kit
Do this now. If you lose every passkey, the Recovery Kit is the only way to get your account back.
Open System > Security
Open the System App and choose Security. The Recovery Kit is under Recovery.
Confirm your Profile name
The first time, Home asks for your Profile name: the name other people see. Saving the kit also creates your Profile.
Add a password
Type a password in Optional password. The kit also holds the keys of your included Wallet, so add a password if you will keep funds in Wallet.
Download the kit
Select Download Recovery Kit and confirm with your passkey. Store the file somewhere private and safe, such as a password manager or an encrypted drive.
Anyone who has your Recovery Kit (and its password) can take over your account and your Wallet. Do not email it, share it, or store it unencrypted in a cloud folder. The kit does not include your files. Back them up separately. See Data and backup.

Inbox asks a question
Soon after your Home joins Community, Inbox asks once whether members can see when you are online. Choose what you prefer. You can change it later in System > Security > Community.
