Chat and Community
Chat has the shared Community room and a direct conversation with each of your contacts.
Community
- Type in Say something and select Send.
- Select People in the room to see who is there. On a profile card, Copy DID copies their DID so you can add them.
- Attach posts a link to a file from your Library. People who are not your contacts must add you before they can get it.
- If you send more than 5 messages in 10 seconds, Chat asks you to slow down.
While Community is live, no status line is shown. Otherwise it says Community not joined, Left Community, Community unreachable or Community can’t connect. Restart Home to reconnect.
Direct messages
Direct messages are between accepted contacts. Open a contact in Chat, or select Message in People.
- A message can show Sending or Delivery unconfirmed.
- Direct messages need a direct connection between the two Homes. Some networks block this.
- If a message stays on Sending, restart either Home.
Who sees you
When you first join, Inbox asks once Show yourself in Community? You can choose Always while Home is online, Only while Community is open, Later or Never.
Change it at any time in System > Security, under Show me in Community: Always while Home is online, Only while Community is open or Hidden.
Leave Community
An admin can select Leave Community in System > Security. The same button then reads Rejoin Community. To keep a new Home out of Community from the start, set it up with elastos setup --isolated before it first joins.
Posts between different networks pass through the main Community node, which can read them until relay support arrives in a later release.
