Windows
ElastOS 2.0.0 does not install on Windows. The installer supports Macs with Apple silicon and Linux (x86_64 and ARM64).
What you can do today
- Use a Linux computer or board for Home, and open it from Windows. Your passkey can use Windows Hello. See Jetson and headless Linux.
The plan for Windows
The first Windows version is planned to run the same Linux Runtime inside WSL2 (Windows Subsystem for Linux), with a small Windows launcher that starts, stops, updates and opens Home.
- It uses the same Runtime, Carrier, identity and permission checks as Mac and Linux. No second, weaker version.
- A native Windows Runtime may come later, behind the same checks.
No date is promised. Follow progress on the roadmap.
Windows Subsystem for Linux is a Microsoft feature that runs a real Linux system inside Windows.
